Farm wedding Upstate NY at Maple Shade Farm with Tracy and Erich on a cool, colorful, and cloudy October day.
This beautiful, detail-filled and intimate upstate NY farm wedding had so much love, happiness and personal touches. The bridal party got ready at the lush Mountain Brook Inn, where a playful Saint Bernard thought it was his wedding day, too.
It had been raining most of the day, but when it was time for Tracy’s brother to walk her down the aisle, the sun parted the clouds and beamed as brightly as Erich’s face as his bride made her way to him. The maid-of-honor softly sang “Wildflowers” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, accompanied by a banjo. The ceremony was made up of the sweetest poems and stories (like A Lovely Love Story by Edward Monkton), each read by a different guest.
Erich’s sister officiated the ceremony, and his family and friends helped incorporate Filipino wedding traditions by making paper stars, and including cord veil coins and the money dance.
Tracy’s brother’s vintage Airstream was parked on the property, while a homemade smoker rig roasted dinner (with two adorable pups standing guard). Delicious treats like candy apples, pies, mini cupcakes, and bags of fresh popcorn were laid all throughout the farmhouse for friends to enjoy. The kids danced in the rain and played lawn games. Animals like pigs, turkeys, peacocks, and kittens were welcomed guests, making the beautiful, rustic venue all the more scenic.
Rain and all, this day couldn’t have been more perfect, and I couldn’t feel more honored to have been able to capture it.
